South Valley Sewer Project - 700 East

The South Valley Sewer District has begun a project to repair various segments of the aging sewer infrastructure in Riverton, Bluffdale, South Jordan, Sandy, and Draper. The project area in Draper will be on 700 East between 12500 South and Sunburn Lane (south of 11400 South). This project uses newer technology to install a liner inside the existing pipe. This installation will take place while the old sewer line is still in service, which will minimize the impact on the public. Expected Schedule:

• From Monday, May 6, for approximately one month, crews will be jumping from area to area to clean the sewer manholes and pipe to prepare them for lining later in the summer. This will have a very minimal impact on traffic, as cleaning only takes a couple of hours at most to complete in each area.
• At the end of May, another crew will begin rehabilitating/raising manholes. This may require minimal trenching, and lane shifts or lane closures directly adjacent to the immediate work area.
• Actual sewer pipe lining and rehabilitation will take place from early June through October 2024. This work is expected to take 1-3 weeks to complete in each area. They will access the pipe through existing manholes, so trenching is not required.

At this time, all work is expected to take place during the day, between 7 AM and 7 PM Monday through Friday, though weekend work may take place as needed.

During construction, nearby properties can expect increased noise, dust, and vibrations during work hours, as well as odors which are part of the lining curing process. Business, residential, and street access will remain open at all times.
