Update: Lone Peak Parkway Closure-Detour
Update 12/2/24:
Construction has begun on the process to restore the bridge. This project requires coordination with Salt Lake City (who owns and maintains the canal) and UDOT and has taken more time than anticipated. The project is expected to be completed by April 2025. Until then, the road closure will need to remain in place. We appreciate your patience as this work continues.
Original Notice - April 2024
Draper City has closed a portion of Lone Peak Parkway between 13100 South and Redberry Road to investigate and address structural deficiencies of a concrete box culvert (bridge) over the canal that crosses the road in this vicinity. The structural deficiencies were identified by UDOT as part of their biannual bridge inspection and subsequent analysis of the bridge. UDOT has ultimate authority over the bridge structure and, based on their findings, has required the immediate closure of the bridge.
The City will be working with the companies who designed and constructed the bridge as well as other structural engineers to determine the magnitude of the deficiencies and the best solution to resolve the structural issues. Unfortunately, no work can be done on the bridge until the end of the irrigation season (usually in October) when the canal will be drained. After that point we can provide an updated timeline for the project.
Multiple detour routes have been set up to direct traffic around the closure area. Please see the attached map.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this closure and appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as we work through these issues.
