Adopt a Storm Drain Program Needs Volunteers

Have you ever seen a storm drain clogged with leaves, grass, trash, and other debris? This type of clogging can lead to localized flooding. 

Rain and snowmelt wash everything on city streets and paved surfaces down storm drains, flowing untreated directly into creeks, streams, rivers, and lakes. This trash from our community ultimately pollutes local waterways. By adopting a storm drain in your neighborhood, you can help keep our waterways and, by extension, larger bodies of water cleaner and healthier.

The Adopt a Storm Drain program asks residents to adopt a storm drain in the city and keep it clear of debris. Volunteers are asked to check their adopted storm drain once monthly and before and after every storm. Reports from volunteers help our storm water personnel address any issues faster. There are over 3,500 storm drains in Draper, so volunteers can make a big difference. Individuals, families, groups, and businesses are welcome to participate.

To adopt a storm drain, visit our map of available and claimed storm drains throughout the city. Select an available drain and submit the brief adoption application. Please note that group and storm drain names are public and will be screened for appropriateness.
