She has successfully brought a local and national community program to life and has been nationally recognized for these efforts. Now, she has developed a new initiative to bring the Power UP Girls program to the Draper Community. This new concept in female advancement is built on three main core principles: 1. Instilling Confidence 2. Advancing Skills. 3. Fostering Knowledge to advance young females from eight to eighteen years old. Laulea Tavake

Laulea Tavake, born and raised in Draper, is the daughter of Sione and Maile Tavake. Laulea loves being a part of the Draper community and giving back. She is a student at Brigham Young University with a 3.96 GPA. She will be graduating in 2027 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders and a double minor in Gerontology and School of Family Life.

Laulea 's community service initiative is to encourage members of the community to spend less time on their devices by providing ongoing opportunities and challenges for individuals and families to make changes to their screen time. The "hang up and hang out" programs/challenges marketed at each major Draper event and through social media platforms will give residents the little push they need to make the changes they've been wanting to see.

She hopes to see more faces lit up with joy and laughter than lit up faces by screens and monitors.
