[ARCHIVED] CERT Class Set in Draper - Sign up now!

CERT training includes: Fire Safety, Disaster Medical First Aid, Search and Rescue and more. Classes begin on Thursday, January 31, 2013 and continue each Thursday until February 28, 2013 (Jan 31, Feb 7, 14 21 & 28). The class will be held at the LDS Church on 1617 East 12700 South (Richins Road), Draper, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. The cost is $30 for a hard hat, vest and materials.

UFA now offers a 5-weeknight CERT training class or a 2-Saturday CERT training class. Both require participants to complete the online IS-317 introduction to CERT prior to the first day of class. This training will take anywhere from 4-8 hours to complete. Your progress will be remembered if using the same computer, so you can go at your pace. There is a final exam at the end, print out your certificate of completion and bring it to the first week of class. You receive eight hours of credit from Homeland Security for this course, which eliminates a lot of the “death by PowerPoint” time in class. We have found by utilizing the online course students come into the class better informed about what CERT really entails. Another benefit is there is more time for hands-on exercises each week.
