It was “lights on” at the Draper City Park at the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. The Alta High School choir sang some Christmas songs, and then Mayor Smith led the countdown with the help of Miss Draper Celeste Gutzman and Rodeo Queen First Attendant Carly Peercy. The lights in the park were turned on tree by tree. It was a beautiful display of all colors of sparkling Christmas lights.
The Mayor’s Youth Council members and their leader, Stefania Wilks, were in charge of organizing this event. They did a wonderful job decorating the area with shadow box lights along the pathways and Christmas decorations in the pavilion and in the Day Barn. Santa greeted children in the Day Barn and families were warmed up inside the new barn. Free cookies and hot chocolate were available, and the attendees were entertained by the Steel Drum Band from Juan Diego Catholic High School.
If you were unable to attend last night’s event, you will want to visit Draper City Park to see the lights and the new bridge all decorated for Christmas. (1300 East 12500 North)
