[ARCHIVED] Draper City Finalizes Purchase of SunCrest Property

DRAPER, Utah. Draper City announces that today they finalized the agreement with Zions Bank to purchase the undeveloped portions of the SunCrest property. The property is approximately 2,400 acres and is adjacent to nearly 1,800 acres of existing city-owned open space, including property the city purchased in Corner Canyon in 2005.

“The purchase of the SunCrest property is a very historic and important addition to Draper City’s open space. We will have an opportunity to add more trails, parks and recreational opportunities, which has been, and still is, a goal of Draper’s City Council. This is another significant milestone in Draper’s history. There are many long-term benefits that will affect Draper City’s quality of life,” says life-time resident Mayor Darrell H. Smith.

Draper City looks forward to the planning process to determine the future use of this property and the city will be involving community members in this process.

The city agreed to purchase the land from Zions Bank at a cost of $5.6 million. This is a rare opportunity for Draper city to purchase pristine property at a low cost and a low interest rate.
