DRAPER, Utah. Draper City Mayor Troy K. Walker and Police Chief Bryan Roberts invite you to attend the Ribbon Cutting for Ballard Corner Memorial Park. At this site on September 1, 2013, Sergeant Johnson was shot in the line of duty and later died from a gunshot wound. The park was built to honor the life and career of Sergeant Johnson. There will be an unveiling of a bench and a monument in memory of Sergeant Johnson.
The park was named after the Ballard family, the original owners of the property.
Speakers at the event include: Mayor Troy K. Walker, Shante Johnson (Derek’s widow), and Dayson Johnson (Derek’s brother).
