The most commonly asked question is…
When will the Draper Line open?
With the construction seeming to be nearly complete, many people are asking when will the Draper TRAX extension begin service? The current plans have the line fully operating – with several thousand passengers daily -- in August 2013. However, test trains will begin running in January, but these, of course, are without passengers. In addition to testing everything associated with the Draper TRAX extension, the time also is used to integrate the new service in Sandy and Draper with the entire UTA network.
UTA and schools in the area also will team up and schedule “Operation Lifesaver” safety presentations to ensure children are aware of the new transit traffic and how to act safely and responsibly around the trains.
UTA also will be opening other lines, as well. FrontRunner South between downtown Salt Lake City and Provo will provide commuter rail service beginning Dec. 10. Light rail service to Salt Lake Airport will start April 14 and the Sugar House Street car service is slated to begin in December of 2013.
