From Salt Lake County Health Department:
This morning, Salt Lake County Health Department confirmed that a bat found at Draper City Skate Park (13390 South 300 East) on Tuesday, August 29, is POSITIVE for RABIES.
If you—or your child or teen—touched, or were touched by a bat in the skate park this week, please call the health department at 385-468-4222 (option 4) to be evaluated for rabies prevention medication.
Rabies is considered 100% fatal if not treated before symptoms appear. If you encounter a bat, DO NOT TOUCH IT or attempt to harm it.
Draper City is coordinating with SLCO Health on their investigation. Signs with the attached graphic have been posted at the skate park. The skate park is open for use. The bat that tested positive was taken from the park and is no longer in the area.
