Rich Ferguson has been appointed as the new Draper City chief of police, replacing John Eining who retired after a 31-year career in law enforcement. Ferguson was sworn-in on January 23, 2023.
“Chief Eining’s leadership has been a huge benefit to Draper City,” Mayor Walker said. “He was a great chief and we wish him all the best in his retirement. We are fortunate to have an outstanding law enforcement veteran to recommend as his replacement. Rich Ferguson is a highly respected leader who will bring significant and valuable experience to our community.”
Ferguson served with Provo Police for 30 years, including four years as chief, before retiring in 2021. He has received numerous awards and commendations, including 2020 Chief of the Year from the Utah State Fraternal Order of Police.
“I’m excited to serve with the outstanding members of the Draper Police Department,” Ferguson said. “I look forward to engaging with citizens as we build relationships of trust while working together to keep Draper one of the nation's safest cities.”
