[ARCHIVED] Wildfire and Evacuation Updates

Wildfire updates

The Traverse Fire started last night in the Traverse Mountain area of Lehi City. Due to high winds, the fire spread quickly and has burned approximately 500 acres. As of 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, the fire is approximately 25 percent contained. Currently, no homes or businesses have been burned.

The safety of our residents is our top priority. Evacuation orders are still in place for the Maple Hollow neighborhood as crews continue to assess the situation. We need to be confident that flare ups will not occur since there continues to be high winds in the area.

To ensure you receive emergency notifications via our Reverse 911 system, sign-up here: http://www.vecc9-1-1.com/voip-registration/. Since Draper City is located in two counties, it is important for Suncrest residents to sign up in both counties.

The west entrance of Draper Park Middle School is open for residents who need to evacuate, and the Red Cross is stationed there to help. Thanks to the Canyons School District and the American Red Cross of Utah for their service to our community.

We are confident that we have all the needed assets to continue to fight this fire. The StateofUtah Gov is now leading the fire response. The Draper City Fire Department and the Unified Fire Authority are assisting in the effort.
