The Draper Historic Preservation Commission presented to Mayor Walker a beautiful painting of the historic Draper Fort. The painting was done by Frank Thomas, Wild Goose Studio. It is absolutely beautiful. If you would like to see the painting for yourself, it is located in the Administration offices of Draper City Hall, just outside of the Mayor's office.
The Draper Fort was built in 1853-55 to protect settlers from hostile Native Americans. The fort was never completed and the feared hostilities did not materialize. Draper Historic Park was built in 1997 on the site where the fort once stood. The street on the east side of the park is named "Fort Street."
